Resumen
Amulek enseña sobre la necesidad de la expiación infinita de Cristo. Insta al pueblo a orar siempre, servir a los demás y no postergar el arrepentimiento; esta vida es el tiempo para prepararse para encontrarse con Dios.
Después de que Alma terminó de hablarles, se sentó en el suelo, y Amulek se levantó y empezó a enseñarles, diciendo:
And now it came to pass that after Alma had spoken these words unto them he sat down upon the ground, and Amulek arose and began to teach them, saying:
Mis hermanos, no creo que sea posible que no sepas las cosas que se han enseñado acerca de la venida de Cristo, de quien enseñamos que es el Hijo de Dios. Sé que estas cosas te fueron enseñadas abundantemente antes de que te separaras de nosotros.
My brethren, I think that it is impossible that ye should be ignorant of the things which have been spoken concerning the coming of Christ, who is taught by us to be the Son of God; yea, I know that these things were taught unto you bountifully before your dissension from among us.
Ya que has pedido a mi amado hermano que te diga lo que debes hacer a causa de tus aflicciones, y él te ha hablado para preparar tu mente, y te ha animado a tener fe y paciencia—
And as ye have desired of my beloved brother that he should make known unto you what ye should do, because of your afflictions; and he hath spoken somewhat unto you to prepare your minds; yea, and he hath exhorted you unto faith and to patience—
Quiero que tengas suficiente fe para plantar la palabra en tu corazón, para que así puedas probar su bondad.
Yea, even that ye would have so much faith as even to plant the word in your hearts, that ye may try the experiment of its goodness.
Hemos visto que la principal pregunta en sus mentes es si la palabra está en el Hijo de Dios, o si no habrá Cristo.
And we have beheld that the great question which is in your minds is whether the word be in the Son of God, or whether there shall be no Christ.
También has visto que mi hermano te ha mostrado, muchas veces, que la salvación viene por medio de Cristo.
And ye also beheld that my brother has proved unto you, in many instances, that the word is in Christ unto salvation.
Mi hermano ha citado las palabras de Zenos, que la redención viene por medio del Hijo de Dios, y también las palabras de Zenock. También ha mencionado a Moisés para mostrar que estas cosas son verdaderas.
My brother has called upon the words of Zenos, that redemption cometh through the Son of God, and also upon the words of Zenock; and also he has appealed unto Moses, to prove that these things are true.
Ahora yo mismo te testifico que estas cosas son verdaderas. Sé que Cristo vendrá entre los hijos de los hombres para tomar sobre sí las transgresiones de su pueblo, y que Él expiará los pecados del mundo, porque el Señor Dios lo ha dicho.
And now, behold, I will testify unto you of myself that these things are true. Behold, I say unto you, that I do know that Christ shall come among the children of men, to take upon him the transgressions of his people, and that he shall atone for the sins of the world; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
Es necesario que se realice una expiación, porque según el gran plan del Dios Eterno, debe haber una expiación, de lo contrario toda la humanidad perecerá inevitablemente. Todos están endurecidos, todos han caído y están perdidos, y deben perecer a menos que sea por medio de la expiación que debe hacerse.
For it is expedient that an atonement should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; yea, all are hardened; yea, all are fallen and are lost, and must perish except it be through the atonement which it is expedient should be made.
Es necesario que haya un gran y último sacrificio—no un sacrificio de hombre, animal, ni de ninguna clase de ave—porque no será un sacrificio humano, sino que debe ser un sacrificio infinito y eterno.
For it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice; yea, not a sacrifice of man, neither of beast, neither of any manner of fowl; for it shall not be a human sacrifice; but it must be an infinite and eternal sacrifice.
Nadie puede sacrificar su propia sangre para expiar los pecados de otro. Si un hombre comete asesinato, ¿acaso nuestra ley justa quita la vida de su hermano? No, no lo hace.
Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood which will atone for the sins of another. Now, if a man murdereth, behold will our law, which is just, take the life of his brother? I say unto you, Nay.
La ley exige la vida de quien ha cometido asesinato; así que solo una expiación infinita es suficiente para cubrir los pecados del mundo.
But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered; therefore there can be nothing which is short of an infinite atonement which will suffice for the sins of the world.
Por lo tanto, es necesario que haya un gran y último sacrificio; y después de eso, debe terminar el derramamiento de sangre. Entonces la ley de Moisés se cumplirá—se cumplirá por completo, hasta el más mínimo detalle, y no quedará nada sin hacer.
Therefore, it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice; and then shall there be, or it is expedient there should be, a stop to the shedding of blood; then shall the law of Moses be fulfilled; yea, it shall be all fulfilled, every jot and tittle, and none shall have passed away.
Este es el verdadero propósito de la ley: todo señala hacia ese gran y último sacrificio; y ese gran y último sacrificio será el Hijo de Dios, infinito y eterno.
And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.
De esta manera, él traerá salvación a todos los que creen en su nombre; este es el propósito de este último sacrificio: lograr que la misericordia venza a la justicia y proveer un camino para que las personas tengan fe para arrepentirse.
And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance.
De esta manera, la misericordia puede satisfacer las demandas de la justicia y rodearlos de seguridad, mientras que cualquiera que no tenga fe que lo lleve al arrepentimiento queda expuesto a todas las demandas de la justicia. Así, el gran y eterno plan de redención se aplica solo a quienes tienen fe y se arrepienten.
And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice; therefore only unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.
Oro para que Dios te ayude, mis hermanos y hermanas, a comenzar a ejercer tu fe arrepintiéndote y clamando su santo nombre, pidiéndole que tenga misericordia de ti.
Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you;
Ora a él pidiendo misericordia, porque él tiene el poder para salvar.
Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save.
Humíllate y sigue orando a él.
Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him.
Ora a él cuando estés en tus campos y sobre todos tus rebaños.
Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks.
Ora a Él en tu hogar, por cada persona de tu familia, en la mañana, al mediodía y en la noche.
Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening.
Ora a él para pedirle ayuda contra el poder de tus enemigos.
Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies.
Ora a él contra el diablo, que es enemigo de toda rectitud.
Yea, cry unto him against the devil, who is an enemy to all righteousness.
Ora a él por las cosechas en tus campos, para que puedas prosperar en ellas.
Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them.
Ora por tus rebaños en los campos, para que crezcan y se multipliquen.
Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase.
Pero eso no es todo; debes derramar tu alma en tu aposento, en tus lugares secretos y en tu desierto.
But this is not all; ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness.
Y cuando no estés orando en voz alta al Señor, deja que tu corazón esté lleno, acercándote constantemente a Él en oración por tu propio bienestar y por el bienestar de quienes te rodean.
Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those who are around you.
Y ahora, mis amados hermanos y hermanas, te digo, no pienses que esto es todo; porque después de haber hecho todas estas cosas, si rechazas a los necesitados y a los desnudos, y no visitas a los enfermos y afligidos, y no compartes lo que tienes con los que lo necesitan—te digo, si no haces ninguna de estas cosas, tu oración es inútil, no te sirve de nada, y eres como los hipócritas que niegan la fe.
And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things, if ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those who stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things, behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites who do deny the faith.
Así que, si no recuerdas ser caritativo, eres como la escoria que los refinadores desechan porque no tiene valor, y es pisoteada por la gente.
Therefore, if ye do not remember to be charitable, ye are as dross, which the refiners do cast out, (it being of no worth) and is trodden under foot of men.
Ahora bien, hermanos míos, quiero que ustedes, después de haber recibido tantos testimonios y ver que las santas escrituras dan testimonio de estas cosas, se acerquen y muestren los frutos de su arrepentimiento.
And now, my brethren, I would that, after ye have received so many witnesses, seeing that the holy scriptures testify of these things, ye come forth and bring fruit unto repentance.
Quiero que te acerques y que no endurezcas más tu corazón, porque ahora es el momento y el día de tu salvación. Si te arrepientes y no endureces tu corazón, el gran plan de redención se te manifestará de inmediato.
Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you.
Esta vida es el tiempo para que las personas se preparen para encontrarse con Dios; los días de esta vida son cuando debemos hacer nuestra obra.
For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
Y ahora, como dije antes, ya que has tenido tantos testigos, te ruego que no postergues el día de tu arrepentimiento hasta el final; porque después de esta vida, que se nos da para prepararnos para la eternidad, si no aprovechamos bien nuestro tiempo mientras estamos aquí, entonces viene la noche de tinieblas cuando ya no se puede hacer obra alguna.
And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.
No puedes decir, cuando llegues a ese momento terrible, que te arrepentirás o que volverás a tu Dios. No puedes decir eso, porque el mismo espíritu que posea tu cuerpo al salir de esta vida tendrá poder para poseer tu cuerpo en el mundo eterno.
Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
Si has postergado el día de tu arrepentimiento hasta la muerte, te has hecho sujeto al espíritu del diablo, y él te sella como suyo. Por esto, el Espíritu del Señor se ha apartado de ti y no tiene lugar en ti, y el diablo tiene poder completo sobre ti. Este es el estado final de los inicuos.
For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked.
Yo sé esto porque el Señor ha dicho que no habita en templos impuros, sino que vive en los corazones de los justos. También ha dicho que los justos se sentarán en su reino y no saldrán más, y sus vestiduras serán emblanquecidas por la sangre del Cordero.
And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb.
Ahora bien, mis amados hermanos y hermanas, quiero que recuerden estas cosas y procuren su salvación con reverencia ante Dios, y que ya no nieguen la venida de Cristo.
And now, my beloved brethren, I desire that ye should remember these things, and that ye should work out your salvation with fear before God, and that ye should no more deny the coming of Christ;
No luches más contra el Espíritu Santo, sino recíbelo y toma sobre ti el nombre de Cristo. Humíllate por completo y adora a Dios dondequiera que estés, en espíritu y en verdad. Vive cada día con gratitud por las muchas misericordias y bendiciones que él te da.
That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you.
También te animo, hermano mío, a que estés atento y ores continuamente para que no seas apartado por las tentaciones del diablo, para que no te domine ni te haga su súbdito en el día final, porque él no te da nada bueno a cambio.
Yea, and I also exhort you, my brethren, that ye be watchful unto prayer continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing.
Ahora, mis amados hermanos y hermanas, te animo a ser paciente y a soportar toda clase de aflicciones. No hables en contra de aquellos que te echan fuera por tu extrema pobreza, o podrías llegar a ser pecador como ellos.
And now my beloved brethren, I would exhort you to have patience, and that ye bear with all manner of afflictions; that ye do not revile against those who do cast you out because of your exceeding poverty, lest ye become sinners like unto them;
Pero ten paciencia y soporta estas aflicciones, con la firme esperanza de que algún día descansarás de todas tus dificultades.
But that ye have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions.
