Resumen

El Señor reprende a Israel por su terquedad e idolatría, les recuerda Su guía y poder, y les insta a salir de Babilonia, prometiendo bendiciones por la obediencia pero advirtiendo que no hay paz para los malvados.

Escucha esto, casa de Jacob, tú que eres llamado por el nombre de Israel y has salido de las aguas de Judá, o de las aguas del bautismo. Juras por el nombre del Señor y hablas del Dios de Israel, pero no juras con verdad ni con justicia.

Hearken and hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, or out of the waters of baptism, who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, yet they swear not in truth nor in righteousness.

Se llaman parte de la ciudad santa, pero no confían en el Dios de Israel, que es el Señor de los Ejércitos; Señor de los Ejércitos es su nombre.

Nevertheless, they call themselves of the holy city, but they do not stay themselves upon the God of Israel, who is the Lord of Hosts; yea, the Lord of Hosts is his name.

He declarado las cosas anteriores desde el principio; salieron de mi boca y las mostré. Las revelé de repente.

Behold, I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them. I did show them suddenly.

Hice esto porque sabía que eres terco, con un cuello como de hierro y una frente como de bronce.

And I did it because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

Te lo he dicho desde el principio; antes de que sucediera, te lo mostré. Hice esto para que no dijeras: "Mi ídolo hizo esto, mi imagen tallada y mi imagen de metal ordenaron estas cosas."

And I have even from the beginning declared to thee; before it came to pass I showed them thee; and I showed them for fear lest thou shouldst say—mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image hath commanded them.

Has visto y oído todo esto; ¿no lo declararás? Te he mostrado cosas nuevas desde este momento—cosas ocultas que no conocías.

Thou hast seen and heard all this; and will ye not declare them? And that I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

Han sido creadas ahora y no desde el principio; incluso antes del día en que las oíste, te fueron declaradas, para que no dijeras: "Ya las conocía."

They are created now, and not from the beginning, even before the day when thou heardest them not they were declared unto thee, lest thou shouldst say—Behold I knew them.

No escuchaste; no supiste; desde entonces tu oído no fue abierto. Yo sabía que actuarías con mucha traición y que desde tu nacimiento fuiste llamado transgresor.

Yea, and thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time thine ear was not opened; for I knew that thou wouldst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

Pero por causa de mi nombre refrenaré mi ira, y por mi alabanza me contendré contigo, para no destruirte.

Nevertheless, for my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain from thee, that I cut thee not off.

Te he refinado; te he escogido en el horno de la aflicción.

For, behold, I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Por amor a mí mismo, por amor a mí mismo lo haré, porque no permitiré que mi nombre sea deshonrado, ni daré mi gloria a otro.

For mine own sake, yea, for mine own sake will I do this, for I will not suffer my name to be polluted, and I will not give my glory unto another.

Escúchame, Jacob, y tú, Israel, a quien he llamado, porque yo soy él; yo soy el primero y también soy el último.

Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called, for I am he; I am the first, and I am also the last.

Mi mano también ha puesto los cimientos de la tierra, y mi diestra ha extendido los cielos. Yo los llamo y se presentan juntos.

Mine hand hath also laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens. I call unto them and they stand up together.

Todos, reúnanse y escuchen. ¿Quién entre ellos les ha anunciado estas cosas? El Señor lo ha amado, y cumplirá su palabra que ha hablado por medio de ellos. Él llevará a cabo su voluntad contra Babilonia, y su poder vendrá sobre los caldeos.

All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; who among them hath declared these things unto them? The Lord hath loved him; yea, and he will fulfill his word which he hath declared by them; and he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall come upon the Chaldeans.

El Señor dice: Yo, el Señor, he hablado; lo he llamado para declarar, lo he traído, y él hará prosperar su camino.

Also, saith the Lord; I the Lord, yea, I have spoken; yea, I have called him to declare, I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

Acércate a mí; no he hablado en secreto. Desde el principio, desde el momento en que fue declarado, he hablado. El Señor Dios y su Espíritu me han enviado.

Come ye near unto me; I have not spoken in secret; from the beginning, from the time that it was declared have I spoken; and the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

Esto dice el Señor, tu Redentor, el Santo de Israel: Yo lo he enviado; el Señor tu Dios, que te enseña para tu bien y te guía por el camino que debes seguir, ha hecho esto.

And thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I have sent him, the Lord thy God who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way thou shouldst go, hath done it.

Si tan solo hubieras escuchado mis mandamientos, tu paz habría sido como un río, y tu rectitud como las olas del mar.

O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments—then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.

Tus descendientes habrían sido tan numerosos como la arena, y tus hijos incontables como sus granos; su nombre no habría sido cortado ni destruido de mi presencia.

Thy seed also had been as the sand; the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

Sal de Babilonia, escapa de los caldeos. Proclama esto con cánticos de alegría; anúncialo hasta los confines de la tierra. Di: "El Señor ha redimido a su siervo Jacob."

Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter to the end of the earth; say ye: The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

No tuvieron sed; tú los guiaste por los desiertos y sacaste agua de la roca para ellos. Partiste la roca, y brotó agua en abundancia.

And they thirsted not; he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also and the waters gushed out.

Aunque ha hecho todo esto, y cosas aún mayores, no hay paz para los malvados, dice el Señor.

And notwithstanding he hath done all this, and greater also, there is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
