Resumen

Isaías habla del siervo del Señor que reunirá a Israel, será luz para los gentiles y promete que Dios recordará y redimirá a su pueblo disperso con compasión y poder.

Escucha, casa de Israel, todos ustedes que han sido apartados y expulsados por la maldad de los líderes de mi pueblo—todos ustedes que están esparcidos por el mundo, que son mi pueblo, casa de Israel. Escúchenme, tierras lejanas, y presten atención, pueblos que están lejos. El Señor me ha llamado desde el vientre; mencionó mi nombre cuando aún estaba en el vientre de mi madre.

And again: Hearken, O ye house of Israel, all ye that are broken off and are driven out because of the wickedness of the pastors of my people; yea, all ye that are broken off, that are scattered abroad, who are of my people, O house of Israel. Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken ye people from far; the Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

Él ha hecho mis palabras tan filosas como una espada; me ha escondido bajo la sombra de su mano, y me ha hecho como una flecha pulida; me ha guardado oculto en su aljaba.

And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

And said unto me: Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Entonces dije: He trabajado en vano, he gastado mis fuerzas sin propósito y para nada; pero mi juicio está con el Señor, y mi obra está con mi Dios.

Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for naught and in vain; surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.

Y ahora, dice el Señor—quien me formó desde el vientre para ser su siervo, para traer de regreso a Jacob hacia él—aunque Israel no sea reunido, aun así seré glorioso a los ojos del Señor, y mi Dios será mi fortaleza.

And now, saith the Lord—that formed me from the womb that I should be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him—though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength.

Él dijo: Es poca cosa para ti ser mi siervo para restaurar las tribus de Jacob y traer de vuelta a los de Israel que han sido preservados. También te haré luz para los gentiles, para que lleves mi salvación hasta los confines de la tierra.

And he said: It is a light thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the ends of the earth.

El Señor, el Redentor de Israel y su Santo, dice al despreciado por la gente y aborrecido por la nación, el siervo de los gobernantes: Los reyes verán y se pondrán de pie, y los príncipes se inclinarán, porque tú, Señor, eres fiel.

Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful.

El Señor dice: En el tiempo favorable te he escuchado, oh islas del mar, y en el día de salvación te he ayudado; te protegeré y te daré a mi siervo como un convenio para el pueblo, para establecer la tierra y ayudarles a heredar las heredades desoladas.

Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time have I heard thee, O isles of the sea, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee my servant for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

Dirás a los prisioneros: "Salgan en libertad", y a los que están sentados en tinieblas: "Muéstrense". Encontrarán alimento a lo largo de los caminos, y sus pastos estarán en todo lugar alto.

That thou mayest say to the prisoners: Go forth; to them that sit in darkness: Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

No tendrán hambre ni sed, ni el calor ni el sol los herirá; porque el que tiene misericordia de ellos los guiará, y los conducirá junto a manantiales de agua.

They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them; for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

Convertiré todas mis montañas en caminos, y mis calzadas serán elevadas.

And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

Casa de Israel, estos vendrán de lugares lejanos; unos del norte y del occidente, y otros de la tierra de Sinim.

And then, O house of Israel, behold, these shall come from far; and lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

Canten, cielos, y alégrate, tierra, porque los pies de los que están en el oriente serán establecidos. Prorrumpan en cantos, montañas, porque ya no serán golpeadas. El Señor ha consolado a su pueblo y tendrá misericordia de los afligidos.

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; for the feet of those who are in the east shall be established; and break forth into singing, O mountains; for they shall be smitten no more; for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

Pero Sion ha dicho: "El Señor me ha abandonado, y mi Señor se ha olvidado de mí"; pero él mostrará que no es así.

But, behold, Zion hath said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me—but he will show that he hath not.

¿Acaso una mujer puede olvidar a su hijo de pecho, y dejar de tener compasión del hijo que dio a luz? Aunque ellas llegaran a olvidar, yo no te olvidaré a ti, oh casa de Israel.

For can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee, O house of Israel.

Te he grabado en las palmas de mis manos; tus muros están siempre delante de mí.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Tus hijos regresarán rápidamente, y los que te destruyeron se alejarán de ti.

Thy children shall make haste against thy destroyers; and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

Mira a tu alrededor y observa; toda esta gente se está reuniendo y vendrá a ti. Tan cierto como que yo vivo, dice el Señor, te adornarás con todos ellos como con un adorno y los llevarás puestos como una novia.

Lift up thine eyes round about and behold; all these gather themselves together, and they shall come to thee. And as I live, saith the Lord, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on even as a bride.

Tus lugares arruinados y desiertos, y la tierra que fue destruida, ahora serán demasiado pequeños por la cantidad de gente que vivirá allí, y aquellos que una vez te conquistaron estarán muy lejos.

For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants; and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

Los hijos que tendrás después de perder a los primeros te dirán: “Este lugar es muy pequeño para mí; dame espacio para que pueda vivir aquí.”

The children whom thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the first, shall again in thine ears say: The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell.

Dirás en tu corazón: “¿Quién me dio estos hijos, si he perdido los míos y estoy desolada, cautiva, y ando de un lado a otro? ¿Quién los crió para mí? Yo estaba sola; ¿de dónde vinieron estos?”

Then shalt thou say in thine heart: Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? And who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where have they been?

El Señor Dios dice: Levantaré mi mano a los gentiles y alzaré mi estandarte para los pueblos; ellos traerán a tus hijos en sus brazos, y tus hijas serán llevadas sobre sus hombros.

Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people; and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

Los reyes serán tus guardianes, y sus reinas te cuidarán. Se inclinarán ante ti con el rostro en tierra y mostrarán profundo respeto a tus pies. Entonces sabrás que yo soy el Señor, y los que esperan en mí no serán avergonzados.

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers; they shall bow down to thee with their face towards the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

¿Se le puede quitar la presa al poderoso, o pueden ser liberados los cautivos justos?

For shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives delivered?

25

El Señor dice: Aun los cautivos del poderoso serán liberados, y la presa del terrible será rescatada. Yo pelearé contra los que peleen contra ti, y salvaré a tus hijos.

But thus saith the Lord, even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

Haré que los que te oprimen se coman su propia carne; se embriagarán con su propia sangre como si fuera vino dulce. Entonces todos sabrán que yo, el Señor, soy tu Salvador y Redentor, el Poderoso de Jacob.

And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; they shall be drunken with their own blood as with sweet wine; and all flesh shall know that I, the Lord, am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
