La parábola del viñedo de Isaías muestra el fracaso de Israel en producir rectitud; advierte sobre la destrucción venidera y enumera ayes por varios pecados, incluyendo la injusticia, el orgullo y llamar al mal bien.
Cantaré a mi amado una canción sobre su viña. Mi amado tiene una viña en una colina muy fértil.
And then will I sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved, touching his vineyard. My well-beloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill.
La cercó, quitó las piedras, la plantó con la mejor vid, construyó una torre en medio y allí hizo un lagar. Esperaba que diera buenas uvas, pero dio uvas silvestres.
And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a wine-press therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
Ahora, pueblo de Jerusalén y hombres de Judá, por favor juzguen entre mí y mi viña.
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
¿Qué más pude haber hecho por mi viña que no haya hecho ya? Cuando esperaba que diera buenas uvas, dio uvas silvestres en su lugar.
What could have been done more to my vineyard that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes it brought forth wild grapes.
Ahora te diré lo que haré a mi viña: quitaré su cerca, y será devorada; derribaré su muro, y será pisoteada.
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard—I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and I will break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down;
La convertiré en un desierto; no será podada ni cultivada, y allí crecerán zarzas y espinos. También mandaré a las nubes que no lluevan sobre ella.
And I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
La viña del Señor de los Ejércitos es la casa de Israel, y el pueblo de Judá es su planta escogida. Esperabas justicia, pero hallaste opresión; esperabas rectitud, pero escuchaste un clamor de angustia.
For the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant; and he looked for judgment, and behold, oppression; for righteousness, but behold, a cry.
¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa hasta que ya no queda espacio, para que puedan vivir solos en medio de la tierra!
Wo unto them that join house to house, till there can be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
El Señor de los Ejércitos me ha dicho que muchas casas quedarán vacías, y grandes y hermosas ciudades no tendrán a nadie que viva en ellas.
In mine ears, said the Lord of Hosts, of a truth many houses shall be desolate, and great and fair cities without inhabitant.
Diez acres de viñedo producirán solo un bato, y un homer de semilla rendirá solo un efa.
Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah.
Ay de los que se levantan temprano en la mañana para buscar bebidas fuertes, que siguen bebiendo hasta la noche, dejando que el vino los consuma.
Wo unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, that continue until night, and wine inflame them!
Tienen arpas, liras, panderos, flautas y vino en sus fiestas, pero no prestan atención a la obra del Señor ni consideran lo que tú has hecho.
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands.
Así que mi pueblo ha sido llevado al cautiverio porque le falta conocimiento; sus hombres honorables están hambrientos, y las multitudes se mueren de sed.
Therefore, my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
Así que el infierno se ha ensanchado y ha abierto su boca de par en par; su gloria, sus multitudes, su orgullo y los que se regocijan descenderán en él.
Therefore, hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
La persona común será humillada, el poderoso será rebajado, y los orgullosos serán humillados.
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.
Pero el Señor de los Ejércitos será exaltado por medio del juicio, y el Dios Santo será mostrado santo por la justicia.
But the Lord of Hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
Los corderos pastarán como de costumbre, y los extraños comerán en las ruinas que dejaron los ricos.
Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
Les espera el desastre a los que arrastran sus pecados junto con mentiras y jalan su maldad como si la tuvieran atada con una cuerda pesada.
Wo unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope;
Dicen: “Que se apure y haga su obra para que la veamos; que el plan del Santo de Israel se acerque y se cumpla para que lo conozcamos.”
That say: Let him make speed, hasten his work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it.
¡Ay de los que llaman al mal bien y al bien mal, que cambian la oscuridad por la luz y la luz por la oscuridad, que sustituyen lo amargo por lo dulce y lo dulce por lo amargo!
Wo unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
¡Ay de los que se creen sabios y se consideran inteligentes!
Wo unto the wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!
¡Ay de los que son valientes para beber vino y expertos en mezclar bebidas fuertes!
Wo unto the mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;
Justifican al malvado por una recompensa y quitan la justicia a los justos.
Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Así como el fuego consume la paja y las llamas devoran el tamo, sus raíces se pudrirán y sus flores serán llevadas por el viento como el polvo, porque han rechazado la ley del Señor de los Ejércitos y han despreciado la palabra del Santo de Israel.
Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, their root shall be rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up as dust; because they have cast away the law of the Lord of Hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Por eso se ha encendido la ira del Señor contra su pueblo, y ha extendido su mano contra ellos y los ha herido. Los montes temblaron, y sus cuerpos quedaron esparcidos por las calles. A pesar de todo esto, su ira no se ha apartado, y su mano sigue extendida.
Therefore, is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them; and the hills did tremble, and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Él levantará una bandera para las naciones lejanas y les hará una señal desde los confines de la tierra. Vendrán rápidamente y con prontitud; ninguno estará cansado ni tropezará entre ellos.
And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth; and behold, they shall come with speed swiftly; none shall be weary nor stumble among them.
Nadie dormirá ni se adormecerá; sus cinturones no se aflojarán, ni se romperán las correas de sus sandalias.
None shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken;
Sus flechas serán afiladas, y todos sus arcos estarán listos; los cascos de sus caballos serán como pedernal, y sus ruedas como un torbellino, su rugido como el de un león.
Whose arrows shall be sharp, and all their bows bent, and their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind, their roaring like a lion.
Rugirán como leones jóvenes; rugirán y atraparán a su presa, y se la llevarán a salvo, y nadie la rescatará.
They shall roar like young lions; yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry away safe, and none shall deliver.
En ese día, rugirán contra ellos como el rugido del mar; y si miran hacia la tierra, habrá oscuridad y aflicción, y la luz en los cielos se oscurecerá.
And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if they look unto the land, behold, darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
