Resumen

Isaías profetiza sobre una gran luz y un niño que traerá paz, pero también advierte sobre el orgullo, la maldad y la destrucción venidera de Israel por negarse a arrepentirse.

Sin embargo, la oscuridad no será tan grande como lo fue cuando ella estuvo angustiada antes, cuando él afligió levemente por primera vez la tierra de Zabulón y la tierra de Neftalí, y después trajo mayor aflicción por el camino del Mar Rojo, más allá del Jordán, en Galilea de las naciones.

Nevertheless, the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, and afterwards did more grievously afflict by the way of the Red Sea beyond Jordan in Galilee of the nations.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Has multiplicado la nación y aumentado su alegría. Se regocijan delante de ti como quienes celebran la cosecha, como los que se alegran al repartirse el botín.

Thou hast multiplied the nation, and increased the joy—they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor.

Cada batalla del guerrero se libra con caos y ropas manchadas de sangre, pero esta será con fuego y leña para la llama.

For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

Un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo se nos ha dado; el gobierno estará sobre sus hombros, y será llamado Admirable, Consejero, Dios Poderoso, Padre Eterno, Príncipe de Paz.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

No habrá fin al crecimiento de su gobierno y de la paz, mientras él reine en el trono de David y sobre su reino, estableciéndolo y sosteniéndolo con justicia y rectitud desde ahora y para siempre. El celo del Señor de los Ejércitos hará esto.

Of the increase of government and peace there is no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this.

Todo el pueblo lo sabrá—Efraín y los habitantes de Samaria—los que dicen con orgullo y arrogancia de corazón:

And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart:

Los ladrillos se han caído, pero reconstruiremos con piedras labradas; los sicómoros han sido cortados, pero los cambiaremos por cedros.

The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

Así que el Señor traerá contra Rezín a sus enemigos y unirá a sus adversarios.

Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

Los sirios están al frente y los filisteos detrás, y consumirán a Israel abiertamente. Aun después de todo esto, su ira no se ha apartado, y su mano sigue extendida.

The Syrians before and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of Hosts.

Así que el Señor quitará de Israel en un solo día tanto la cabeza como la cola, la rama y el junco.

Therefore will the Lord cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush in one day.

El anciano es la cabeza, y el profeta que enseña mentiras es la cola.

The ancient, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

Los líderes de este pueblo los desvían, y los que los siguen son destruidos.

For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Por eso el Señor no se complacerá en sus jóvenes, ni tendrá misericordia de sus huérfanos y viudas, porque todos son hipócritas y hacen lo malo, y cada boca habla necedades. A pesar de todo esto, su ira no se ha apartado, y su mano sigue extendida.

Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows; for every one of them is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

La maldad arde como fuego; consumirá los espinos y las zarzas, y encenderá los matorrales de los bosques, y se elevarán como humo.

For wickedness burneth as the fire; it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forests, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

Por la ira del Señor de los Ejércitos, la tierra está oscurecida, y el pueblo será como leña para el fuego; nadie tendrá compasión de su hermano.

Through the wrath of the Lord of Hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire; no man shall spare his brother.

Agarrará con su mano derecha y aún tendrá hambre; comerá con su mano izquierda y no quedará satisfecho; cada uno comerá la carne de su propio brazo—

And he shall snatch on the right hand and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand and they shall not be satisfied; they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm—

Manasés estará contra Efraín, y Efraín contra Manasés; juntos estarán contra Judá. Aun con todo esto, no se ha apartado su ira, y su mano sigue extendida.

Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
