Resumen
Se cita la profecía de Isaías, que describe la futura liberación de Israel del cautiverio, la caída de Babilonia y su rey (incluida la caída de Lucifer), y el triunfo final del Señor sobre los opresores.
El Señor tendrá misericordia de Jacob y volverá a escoger a Israel, estableciéndolos en su propia tierra. Los extranjeros se unirán a ellos y se integrarán con la casa de Jacob.
For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
El pueblo los tomará y los llevará a su lugar, desde tierras lejanas hasta los confines de la tierra, y regresarán a sus tierras prometidas. La casa de Israel los poseerá, y la tierra del Señor tendrá siervos y siervas. Tomarán cautivos a quienes antes los tuvieron cautivos, y gobernarán sobre sus opresores.
And the people shall take them and bring them to their place; yea, from far unto the ends of the earth; and they shall return to their lands of promise. And the house of Israel shall possess them, and the land of the Lord shall be for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captives unto whom they were captives; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
En ese día, el Señor te dará descanso de tu tristeza, de tu temor y de la dura servidumbre a la que fuiste obligado a servir.
And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall give thee rest, from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve.
En ese día, dirás este proverbio contra el rey de Babilonia y dirás: ¡Cómo ha terminado el opresor, ha llegado a su fin la ciudad dorada!
And it shall come to pass in that day, that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say: How hath the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased!
El Señor ha quebrado el bastón de los malvados y los cetros de los gobernantes.
The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, the scepters of the rulers.
El que golpeaba a los pueblos con ira y sin cesar, el que dominaba a las naciones con furia, ahora es perseguido, y nadie lo detiene.
He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
Toda la tierra está en reposo y tranquila; la gente estalla en cánticos.
The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet; they break forth into singing.
Los pinos se alegran por ti, y los cedros del Líbano dicen: “Desde que fuiste derribado, nadie ha venido a cortarnos.”
Yea, the fir-trees rejoice at thee, and also the cedars of Lebanon, saying: Since thou art laid down no feller is come up against us.
El infierno de abajo se agita para recibirte cuando llegas; despierta a los muertos por ti, incluyendo a todos los líderes de la tierra; ha levantado a todos los reyes de las naciones de sus tronos.
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming; it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Todos hablarán y te dirán: “¿También tú te has vuelto tan débil como nosotros? ¿Te has hecho como nosotros?”
All they shall speak and say unto thee: Art thou also become weak as we? Art thou become like unto us?
Tu orgullo ha sido llevado hasta la tumba; ya no se escucha el sonido de tus arpas. Debajo de ti se extienden los gusanos, y los vermes te cubren.
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave; the noise of thy viols is not heard; the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
¡Cómo has caído del cielo, oh Lucifer, hijo de la mañana! Has sido derribado a la tierra, tú que debilitabas a las naciones.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!
Has dicho en tu corazón: Subiré al cielo, levantaré mi trono por encima de las estrellas de Dios; también me sentaré en el monte de la congregación, en los extremos del norte;
For thou hast said in thy heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north;
Me elevaré sobre las alturas de las nubes; seré semejante al Altísimo.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
Pero serás llevado al infierno, a las profundidades del abismo.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Los que te vean te mirarán fijamente y pensarán en ti, diciendo: “¿Es este el hombre que hizo temblar la tierra y sacudió los reinos?”
They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and shall consider thee, and shall say: Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?
Él convirtió el mundo en un desierto, destruyó sus ciudades y no dejó libres a sus prisioneros.
And made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof, and opened not the house of his prisoners?
Todos los reyes de las naciones yacen con honor, cada uno en su propia tumba.
All the kings of the nations, yea, all of them, lie in glory, every one of them in his own house.
Pero tú eres arrojado fuera de tu sepulcro como una rama despreciable, como los restos de los que fueron muertos y atravesados a espada, que descienden entre las piedras de la fosa; como un cadáver pisoteado bajo los pies.
But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and the remnant of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.
No serás sepultado con ellos, porque has destruido tu tierra y has matado a tu pueblo. Los descendientes de los malvados nunca serán famosos.
Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evil-doers shall never be renowned.
Prepárate para destruir a sus hijos por los pecados de sus padres, para que no se levanten, ni tomen posesión de la tierra, ni llenen la tierra de ciudades.
Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquities of their fathers, that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
Me levantaré contra ellos, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos, y cortaré de Babilonia el nombre, el resto, el hijo y el descendiente, dice el Señor.
For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of Hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord.
La convertiré en morada para el ave zancuda y en estanques de agua, y la barreré con la escoba de la destrucción, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.
I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of Hosts.
El Señor de los Ejércitos ha jurado, diciendo: Así como lo he planeado, así sucederá; y así como lo he determinado, así se cumplirá—
The Lord of Hosts hath sworn, saying: Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand—
Haré que el asirio entre en mi tierra, y en mis montes lo pisotearé; entonces su yugo será quitado de mi pueblo, y su carga será removida de sus hombros.
That I will bring the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
Este es el propósito planeado para toda la tierra, y esta es la mano extendida sobre todas las naciones.
This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all nations.
El Señor de los Ejércitos lo ha planeado, ¿y quién puede cancelarlo? Su mano está extendida, ¿y quién puede hacer que la retire?
For the Lord of Hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
Este mensaje llegó en el año en que murió el rey Acaz.
In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
No te alegres, toda Filistea, porque se ha quebrado la vara del que te hería; porque de la raíz de la serpiente saldrá una víbora, y su descendencia será una serpiente ardiente y voladora.
Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
El primogénito de los pobres tendrá alimento, y los necesitados descansarán seguros. Yo destruiré tu raíz con hambre, y él matará a tu remanente.
And the first-born of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
Aúlla, puerta; clama, ciudad; toda Palestina, estás destruida. Humo vendrá del norte, y nadie estará solo en el tiempo señalado.
Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved; for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
¿Qué dirán a los mensajeros de las naciones? El Señor ha establecido a Sion, y los pobres de su pueblo confiarán en ella.
What shall then answer the messengers of the nations? That the Lord hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
