Resumen
Jacob cita a Isaías, quien promete que el Señor consolará y redimirá a Sion, quitará su sufrimiento y librará a su pueblo de la opresión, exhortándolos a confiar en la salvación eterna de Dios.
Escúchame, tú que buscas la justicia. Mira la roca de donde fuiste cortado, y el hueco de la cantera de donde fuiste sacado.
Hearken unto me, ye that follow after righteousness. Look unto the rock from whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from whence ye are digged.
Mira a Abraham, tu padre, y a Sara, que te dio a luz; porque lo llamé solo a él y lo bendije.
Look unto Abraham, your father, and unto Sarah, she that bare you; for I called him alone, and blessed him.
El Señor consolará a Sion; consolará todos sus lugares desolados. Convertirá su desierto en Edén y su soledad en el jardín del Señor. Allí habrá gozo y alegría, acción de gracias y sonido de música.
For the Lord shall comfort Zion, he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
Escúchame, pueblo mío, y préstame atención, nación mía. De mí saldrá una ley, y haré que mi juicio sea una luz para los pueblos.
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation; for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light for the people.
Mi justicia está cerca; mi salvación ya ha salido, y mi brazo juzgará a los pueblos. Las islas me esperarán, y confiarán en mi brazo.
My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arm shall judge the people. The isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
Mira los cielos y observa la tierra abajo; los cielos desaparecerán como el humo, y la tierra se gastará como una prenda de vestir, y los que habitan en ella morirán de la misma manera. Pero mi salvación durará para siempre, y mi justicia nunca tendrá fin.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner. But my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Escúchame, tú que conoces la justicia, pueblo en cuyo corazón he escrito mi ley. No temas las críticas de la gente, ni tengas miedo de sus insultos.
Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart I have written my law, fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
La polilla se los comerá como a una prenda, y el gusano los devorará como la lana. Pero mi justicia permanecerá para siempre, y mi salvación continuará de generación en generación.
For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool. But my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
¡Despierta, despierta! Vístete de poder, brazo del Señor; despierta como en los tiempos antiguos. ¿No eres tú el que derrotó a Rahab y hirió al dragón?
Awake, awake! Put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake as in the ancient days. Art thou not he that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?
¿No eres tú quien secó el mar, las aguas del gran abismo, e hizo un camino en lo profundo del mar para que pasaran los que tú redimiste?
Art thou not he who hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?
Así que los redimidos del Señor regresarán y vendrán a Sion cantando. Gozo eterno y santidad estarán sobre sus cabezas, y recibirán alegría y gozo. El dolor y el lamento desaparecerán.
Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy and holiness shall be upon their heads; and they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Yo soy quien te consuela. ¿Quién eres tú para temer al hombre, que morirá, y al hijo del hombre, que se volverá como la hierba?
I am he; yea, I am he that comforteth you. Behold, who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of man, who shall die, and of the son of man, who shall be made like unto grass?
Olvidas al Señor tu Hacedor, que extendió los cielos y puso los cimientos de la tierra, y has vivido cada día con temor constante por la ira del opresor, como si estuviera a punto de destruirte. Pero, ¿dónde está la furia del opresor?
And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth, and hast feared continually every day, because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?
El cautivo exiliado se apresura para ser liberado, para que no muera en la fosa ni le falte el pan.
The captive exile hasteneth, that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.
Yo soy el Señor tu Dios, cuyas olas rugieron; el Señor de los Ejércitos es mi nombre.
But I am the Lord thy God, whose waves roared; the Lord of Hosts is my name.
He puesto mis palabras en tu boca y te he cubierto con la sombra de mi mano, para plantar los cielos, establecer los cimientos de la tierra y decir a Sion: “Tú eres mi pueblo.”
And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion: Behold, thou art my people.
Despierta, despierta, levántate, Jerusalén, tú que has bebido de la mano del Señor la copa de su ira; has bebido hasta las últimas gotas de la copa de temblor, la has vaciado por completo.
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury—thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling wrung out—
Y ninguno de los hijos que ella ha criado está allí para guiarla; ninguno de ellos la toma de la mano.
And none to guide her among all the sons she hath brought forth; neither that taketh her by the hand, of all the sons she hath brought up.
Estas dos cosas te han sucedido: devastación y destrucción, hambre y espada. ¿Quién sentirá compasión por ti, y por medio de quién te consolaré?
These two sons are come unto thee, who shall be sorry for thee—thy desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword—and by whom shall I comfort thee?
Tus hijos han desfallecido, excepto estos dos; yacen en cada esquina. Como un toro salvaje atrapado en una red, están llenos de la ira del Señor, la reprensión de tu Dios.
Thy sons have fainted, save these two; they lie at the head of all the streets; as a wild bull in a net, they are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke of thy God.
Así que escucha esto, tú que sufres y estás abrumado, pero no por el vino:
Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, and not with wine:
Esto dice tu Señor, el Señor y tu Dios: Él defiende la causa de su pueblo. He quitado de tu mano la copa de temblor, los sedimentos de la copa de mi furia. No volverás a beber de ella.
Thus saith thy Lord, the Lord and thy God pleadeth the cause of his people; behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again.
Pero yo se lo daré a aquellos que te han afligido, que le han dicho a tu alma: “Inclínate para que pasemos sobre ti”, y tú has puesto tu cuerpo en el suelo y como calle para que ellos pasen.
But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; who have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over—and thou hast laid thy body as the ground and as the street to them that went over.
Despierta, despierta, vístete de tu poder, Sion; ponte tus vestiduras hermosas, Jerusalén, ciudad santa. Desde ahora, nunca más entrarán en ti los incircuncisos ni los impuros.
Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
Sacúdete el polvo; levántate y siéntate, Jerusalén. Libérate de las cadenas que tienes en el cuello, hija cautiva de Sion.
Shake thyself from the dust; arise, sit down, O Jerusalem; loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
