Resumen
Isaías ve una visión del Señor en el templo, es purificado por un serafín y es llamado a dar un mensaje de advertencia y esperanza futura a un pueblo espiritualmente insensible.
En el año en que murió el rey Uzías, vi al Señor sentado en un trono alto y exaltado, y el borde de su manto llenaba el templo.
In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Encima de él estaban los serafines; cada uno tenía seis alas. Con dos se cubría el rostro, con dos se cubría los pies y con dos volaba.
Above it stood the seraphim; each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Uno llamaba al otro y decía: “Santo, santo, santo es el Señor de los Ejércitos; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria.”
And one cried unto another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Los postes de la puerta temblaron al sonido de quien llamaba, y la casa se llenó de humo.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Entonces dije: "¡Ay de mí! Estoy perdido, porque soy un hombre de labios impuros, y habito en medio de un pueblo de labios impuros, pues mis ojos han visto al Rey, al Señor de los Ejércitos."
Then said I: Wo is unto me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips; and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.
Uno de los serafines voló hacia mí, llevando en la mano un carbón encendido que había tomado con unas tenazas del altar.
Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar;
Lo puso sobre mi boca y dijo: “Esto ha tocado tus labios; tu culpa ha sido quitada y tu pecado ha sido limpiado.”
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said: Lo, this has touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Oí la voz del Señor que decía: "¿A quién enviaré, y quién irá por nosotros?" Yo respondí: "Aquí estoy; envíame a mí."
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: Here am I; send me.
Y él dijo: Ve y dile a este pueblo: Oirás, pero no entenderás; verás, pero no percibirás.
And he said: Go and tell this people—Hear ye indeed, but they understood not; and see ye indeed, but they perceived not.
Haz insensible el corazón de este pueblo, endurece sus oídos y cierra sus ojos, para que no vean con sus ojos, ni oigan con sus oídos, ni entiendan con su corazón, ni se conviertan y sean sanados.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes—lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and be healed.
Entonces dije: “Señor, ¿hasta cuándo?” Y él respondió: “Hasta que las ciudades queden destruidas y sin habitantes, las casas estén vacías y la tierra completamente desolada.”
Then said I: Lord, how long? And he said: Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate;
Y el Señor ha alejado a la gente, y habrá un gran abandono en medio de la tierra.
And the Lord have removed men far away, for there shall be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
Pero quedará una décima parte, y volverán y serán consumidos, como una encina o una encina cuyo tronco queda cuando pierden sus hojas; así la simiente santa será el tronco.
But yet there shall be a tenth, and they shall return, and shall be eaten, as a teil-tree, and as an oak whose substance is in them when they cast their leaves; so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
