Resumen

Jesús cita la profecía de Malaquías sobre la venida del Señor, enseña acerca de los diezmos y las ofrendas, y explica las bendiciones para los fieles y la diferencia entre los justos y los malvados.

Les dijo que escribieran las palabras que el Padre le había dado a Malaquías, las cuales él compartiría con ellos. Después de que las escribieron, se las explicó. Estas son las palabras que les habló: El Padre le dijo a Malaquías—"He aquí, yo envío a mi mensajero, y él preparará el camino delante de mí. Y de repente vendrá a su templo el Señor a quien buscáis, el mensajero del convenio en quien os deleitáis. He aquí, él vendrá," dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And it came to pass that he commanded them that they should write the words which the Father had given unto Malachi, which he should tell unto them. And it came to pass that after they were written he expounded them. And these are the words which he did tell unto them, saying: Thus said the Father unto Malachi—Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom ye seek shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in; behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of Hosts.

¿Pero quién podrá soportar el día de su venida, y quién podrá mantenerse en pie cuando él aparezca? Porque él es como fuego purificador y como jabón de lavadores.

But who may abide the day of his coming, and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap.

Él se sentará como un refinador y purificador de plata, y purificará a los hijos de Leví y los limpiará como el oro y la plata, para que puedan ofrecer una ofrenda justa al Señor.

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

Entonces la ofrenda de Judá y de Jerusalén será agradable al Señor, como lo fue en los tiempos antiguos y en los años pasados.

Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

Vendré a ti para juzgar y pronto testificaré contra los hechiceros, los adúlteros, los mentirosos, los que engañan a los trabajadores con su salario, los que oprimen a las viudas y a los huérfanos, los que rechazan a los extranjeros y los que no me temen, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger, and fear not me, saith the Lord of Hosts.

Yo soy el Señor, yo no cambio; por eso ustedes, hijos de Jacob, no han sido destruidos.

For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Desde los días de tus antepasados, te has apartado de mis mandamientos y no los has guardado. Vuélvete a mí, y yo me volveré a ti, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos. Pero preguntas: “¿Cómo debemos volver?”

Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of Hosts. But ye say: Wherein shall we return?

¿Acaso una persona robará a Dios? Sin embargo, tú me has robado. Pero preguntas: “¿En qué te hemos robado?” En los diezmos y las ofrendas.

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say: Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Estás maldito porque me has robado—toda esta nación.

Ye are cursed with a curse, for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Trae todos los diezmos al alfolí para que haya alimento en mi casa. Pruébame en esto, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos, y verás si no abro las ventanas de los cielos para ti y derramo sobre ti una bendición tan grande que no habrá suficiente espacio para recibirla.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house; and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Yo reprenderé al devorador por causa de ustedes, y no destruirá el fruto de su tierra. La vid en el campo no perderá su fruto antes de tiempo, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the fields, saith the Lord of Hosts.

Todas las naciones te llamarán bendita, porque serás una tierra deliciosa, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.

And all nations shall call you blessed, for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of Hosts.

El Señor dice: "Has hablado fuertemente en mi contra." Pero tú preguntas: "¿Qué hemos dicho contra ti?"

Your words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye say: What have we spoken against thee?

Has dicho: "Es inútil servir a Dios, ¿y qué beneficio hay en guardar sus mandamientos y andar humildemente delante del Señor de los Ejércitos?"

Ye have said: It is vain to serve God, and what doth it profit that we have kept his ordinances and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of Hosts?

Ahora llamamos felices a los orgullosos; los que hacen el mal prosperan, y hasta los que ponen a prueba a Dios son rescatados.

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

Entonces los que temían al Señor hablaban a menudo entre sí, y el Señor los escuchaba y oía. Un libro de memorias fue escrito delante de él para los que temían al Señor y pensaban en su nombre.

Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another, and the Lord hearkened and heard; and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.

Serán míos, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos, en el día en que reúna a mi pueblo preciado; y los perdonaré como un hombre perdona a su propio hijo que le sirve.

And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of Hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Entonces volverás y verás la diferencia entre el justo y el malvado, entre el que sirve a Dios y el que no le sirve.

Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
